Permian Basin

Energen Resources' 2002 acquisition of proved reserves totaling 38 million barrels of oil from First Permian, LLC gave the company a significant operating presence in the Permian Basin.

At year-end 2008, the company's Permain Basin holdings included proved oil, gas and natural gas liquids reserves of 72 MMBOE located on some 83,000 net acres. Representing 27 percent of Energen Resources' proved reserves, the Permian Basin contains 98 percent of the company's oil reserves.

Energen Resources today is the 12th largest oil producer in the basin. Its 2008 production totaled 4.8 MMBOE, and the company estimates that 2009 production will increase to 5.3 MMBOE.
