In the Community

At Energen we are proud to be a part of the communities where we conduct business and employees call home.  Energen employees freely contribute their time and money to a variety of community projects and nonprofit organizations.

Through volunteer hours and corporate contributions, our employees endeavor to strengthen the communities and improve the quality of life where we live and work.  Each year Energen employees donate thousands of hours of their own time to serve a growing number of organizations and causes. The Company supports their efforts through various Company-wide fundraising drives and a matching gift program.

Energen employees are faithful supporters of United Way. The Company and its employees have also participated in the following charitable fundraising programs:

  • American Heart Association jail bail
  • The Literacy Council loft tour
  • Alabama Kidney Foundation walkathon
  • Exceptional Foundation chili cook-off
  • MS walk
  • YWCA flower sale
  • JDRF walk to cure diabetes.

By getting involved in the issues that affect our customers and coworkers, we strive to enhance the well being and economic status of those around us.  Our Charitable Contributions Committee places priorities on Energen’s giving in four primary areas:

  • Health and Human Services
  • Education (focus on college level)
  • Culture and Arts
  • Civic and Community

Our corporate funding guidelines enable us to direct our contributions and volunteer activities toward initiatives that support these primary areas.  “The greatest challenge for our corporate Contributions Committee is not deciding whether to give, but deciding who to give to and how much.”
