Gas Gathering Lines
Gas gathering lines are installed to collect gas from the wells and deliver to a central compressor station or custody transfer measurement point. These lines can be installed underground at a depth of approximately 36 inches to 40 inches deep, or they may be installed on the surface. The depth of buried lines will vary over the years due to erosion and settling. Any planned activity in the area of ERC gas lines should include the location and marking of the lines by company personnel. Operating pressures on gathering lines can vary greatly from less than 50 psig to over 500 psig. Pipeline identification markers are installed on right-of-ways to identify buried gas pipelines; these markers should be visible at almost any location on the right-of-ways. Oilfield equipment can be hazardous; do not trespass on pipeline right-of-ways.
