Energen 2007 Art Competition Winners Named

Energen recently announced the winners of its eighth annual art competition celebrating Alabama artists. The winners were recognized at the Energen Art Reception on April 21.

Alexandra Mears of Gardendale won the Energen Grand Prize and received $5,000 for her work "Gray Cardinal." Mears is originally from Russia.

Everett Hatcher of Birmingham won the Alagasco Wildlife Division and received $2,500 for his work "Twin Toms."

Richard Vevle of Mountain Brook won the Energen Resources Landscape Division and received $2,500 for his work "Winter Wonderland."

Mary White Sowell of Birmingham won the Merit Award for Non-Representational Art and received $2,500 for her work "Cheaha."

Amy Crews of Birmingham won the Energen Employees Award and received $2,500 for her work "Cahaba Lily."

Each year, Energen donates the proceeds from the event to a local non-profit organization. This year's recipient, Pathways, received $5,000.
