Black Warrior Basin
Energen Resources is proud to have pioneered the exploration and development of coalbed methane in Alabama's Black Warrior Basin. In 1985 Energen Resources leased its original 100,000-acre position from USX Corporation in a coal-mining area west of Birmingham, Alabama.
Today, Energen Resources is the largest producer in the Black Warrior Basin. Its 2008 production totaled 14 Bcf, and the company estimates that 2009 production will be approximately the same.
Alabama coalbed methane reserves of 217 Bcf represent approximately 14 percent of the company’s total proved reserves at year-end 2008.
Energen Resources has 796 net wells in the Black Warrior Basin and more than 147,000 net acres. Its reserves-to-production ratio in the basin is approximately 15 years. |
