Safety
At Energen, safety is a fundamental component in all our operations. The protection of our employees, our customers, public health and property, and the environment are all top priorities in the management and operation of our assets throughout the country. Both of Energen’s subsidiaries, Alagasco and Energen Resources, strive to always comply with all applicable state and federal health and safety laws, regulations and standards.
Energen’s safety program begins with our employees who are committed to their own personal safety, as well as the safety of co-workers and the public. Both Alagasco and Energen Resources employees’ commitment to safety are reflected in the following facts:
- Employees of both subsidiaries have consistently been below the industry average for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s DART (Days Away, Restrictions and Transfers) rate, DART severity rate and lost time incidence rate. The DART rate is based on injuries and illnesses severe enough to warrant days away from work, restricted job duty or transfers to another job classification.
- Employees’ vehicle crash frequency rates have consistently been below the Southern Gas Association’s tracked averages.
- Safety committees at all locations participate in routine safety audits and inspections.
Another important aspect of Energen’s safety program is being a good neighbor and providing information to help the public identify and/or avoid potentially dangerous emergencies and/or activities, near our operations, pipelines and well sites. The following safety information contains educational material, guidance for conducting certain activities around our operations, along with contact information should you suspect a problem or emergency (such as a pipeline leak) related to any of our operations near you.
