Sound environmental practices are an important component of Energen’s corporate culture. On a daily basis, we strive to safeguard the health and well being of our employees, neighbors and customers, as well as the communities where we live and work and in which we operate. 

Energen’s oil and gas operations are in areas of the United States with a long history of exploration and production.  Ninety percent of our proved reserves are in the San Juan and Permian Basins, which are among the oldest and most prolific onshore natural gas and oil fields, respectively, in the United States. One hundred percent of our planned drilling and capital investment in 2012 and 2013 are in these two basins.

More than half of our exploration and production employees work in our Midland, Texas, and Farmington, New Mexico, offices. These employees also live, play, and raise their families in and around areas where we have our operations.  Energen has a vested interest that goes beyond the financial to protect the environment and minimize the impact of our operations on the land, water, and air.

Energen and its subsidiaries comply with all applicable laws and regulations and cooperate with local, state, and federal agencies in their inspection and enforcement activities. And with every business decision made, Energen considers the environmental impact of our actions and manages our work responsibly so as to mitigate potential adverse impacts.
