Jackie Cobb
Manager, Revenue Accounting - ERC

I chose a career with Energen because of past experiences with the company as a teenager.  I worked a couple of summers with Alagasco’s weatherization program, Operation Assist, as a scheduler.  I also spent a great summer working in Energen’s human resources department.  The folks with whom I worked closely that summer were so supportive and encouraging. My high school was also Alagasco’s Adopt-a-School.  The influence of that program on us students left a lasting impression on me.  I knew that this company would be a good place to work several years before I officially entered the real workforce.

The things I love about my job are the interactions with co-workers and the variety of the workload.  It is the interaction with co-workers that is the most enjoyable part of my work day.  The Energen family is comprised of so many friendly and genuinely kind people.   Although I have worked in the revenue accounting department at Energen Resources since I came to work here in 1995, there has not been a dull moment.  Our group is responsible for a variety of tasks, and we must work with several different departments within the company.  We also have constant interaction with royalty owners and governmental agencies.

The culture at Energen reflects the overall commitment of its employees to a good work ethic and to accuracy in job performance.  There is also a commitment here to the fair treatment of employees and constituents.

Important attributes that might be helpful for someone interested in working at Energen are diligence, flexibility and adaptability.

Some advice I would offer potential candidates is a succinct yet informative résumé.  Also, be prepared to ask questions about the company and the job opening.
